In the third match of IPL 2018 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Eden Gardens, the hosts easily won the match by four wickets remaining in hand. Sunil Narine being adjudged as the ‘Man of the Match’ for his all round performance.

The match started after KKR won the toss and asked Bangalore to bat first. Brendon McCullum and Quinton de Kock came out to bat and while the former looked in great touch, the latter got out cheaply for 4 runs. Innings from McCullum 43(27), de Villiers 44(23) and Mandeep Singh 37(18) helped the RCB total to reach till 176/7. RCB Skipper Virat Kohli didn’t look to time the ball great where he scored just 31 runs off 33 deliveries.

Narine and Johnson were the pick of the bowlers for KKR where both recorded the figures of 4-0-30-1. Part time spin bowling from Nitish Rana did wonders for Kolkata as he took 2 key wickets of Kohli and de Villiers in the one over that he bowled.

Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine opened the batting for Kolkata. Lynn who was playing cricket after quite a few time, was out for merely 5 runs but Sunil Narine went on hitting the ball all around the park and scored a magnificent 50 off just 17 balls before getting out to Umesh Yadav.

Nitish Rana and skipper Dinesh Karthik commanded the KKR batting with their respective innings of 34 and 35 with bat. Andre Russell took the responsibility of taking the team an inch closer to the victory before Vinay Kumar hit the winning runs.

All the RCB bowlers went for much runs except Umesh Yadav who just conceded 27 runs in his quota of four overs, taking two wickets. Apart from him, Woakes also took three wickets but end up conceding 36 runs which were too many while defending a score of 176.
