By now, most people know what the metaverse is. It’s opening a new world of possibilities and approaching new horizons at top speed – including in the world of education. Nova’s team had started working on an immersive avatar solution before the pandemic which made schools around the world to face a harsh reality such as lack of innovations and resource constraints in educational settings. Nova’s founders were working hard to make learning more entertaining, efficient, immersive and individualized. That’s how Nova’s team of young entrepreneurs brewed the idea for the first “metaschool”.
Nova, an AI avatar-based learning platform, provides schools and other educational institutions with an immersive environment for virtual classes. Rather than relying on dull conference call tools, these AI avatars provide personalized help for students and teachers. They guide students through school by reminding them about assignments, even scheduling sessions with professors and mentors to help them stay on top of their academics and extracurriculars. Schools have an option to run their virtual classes on screen or in virtual reality. All students have to do is pop a pair of VR glasses on (or to do it on a screen) and they can enter a virtual department of their school – like Hogwarts, but better. As Nova integrates new technology into the educational sector, it is also creating a new vision of what school can look like for the future, what Nova’s founders called “metaschool”.
With Nova solution, students can interact better with their peers regardless of what avatars they’d seen on the screen before. This makes it easier to collaborate on class projects and to tap into their creativity. No student is stuck sitting in the back of the class anymore. Nova’s metaschool redefines classrooms as we know them. The futuristic design and virtual rooms are full of gravity-defying objects and mind-bending technology. But the most notable thing about Nova is that it actually boosts morale. With tools like hate-speech detection, problematic behavior is instantly recorded so educators can nip it in the bud. Teachers can finally focus on what is important: to achieve the full potential of each student.
The first trials of the Nova platform will be conducted in one of the first virtual bilingual schools, Open Mind Accelerated International Academy. Open Mind is a bilingual accelerated learning academy.
The virtual school Open Mind started in 2017 amid a lot of skepticism about operating any school outside of a brick-and-mortar setting. It started as a vision to show that students can learn anywhere in today’s global world. It was also the first school to conduct classes in VR using Oculus. Now, it’s grown in size and will be the first global educational testing site for Nova’s AI avatar-based platform.
The great team behind this idea consists of lauded scholars, tech experts, and entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley, Boston, and London. They bring expertise from academic backgrounds forged at Stanford, Berkeley and hold strong track records of building all things cool.
