Chennai Super Kings defeated the Delhi Daredevils by 13 runs in the 30th match of IPL 2018. After this win, they overtook SRH to move to the top of the Points Table. Shane Watson won the ‘Man of the Match’ for his knock of 78 runs off just 40 deliveries.
Delhi Daredevils won the toss and opted to field without making any change in their playing XI. While CSK on the other hand, made four changes as they played KM Asif, Faf du Plessis, Lungi Ngidi and Karn Sharma.
Watson and du Plessis provided CSK with an exceptionally start with the bat after 100 runs of partnership. They lost their first wicket in the form of Plessis (33) who was followed by Suresh Raina (1) in the next over and later Rayudu (78).
But then, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni joined the crease and they played extraordinary innings of 41(24) and 51*(22) as MS Dhoni once again proved that he still has a lot of cricket left him. CSK posted a massive total of 211/4 on the board at the end of their 20 overs.
DD didn’t start well with the bat as well as they lost Prithvi Shaw cheaply for 9 runs. After that, Munro and Iyer consolidated the situation well with their innings of 26 and 13 respectively. But they got out soon and was followed by Glenn Maxwell. Rishabh Pant (79) and Vijay Shankar (54) played quick innings in the end but the target always seemed too much.
Lungi Ngidi, Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh’s economical bowling helped CSK to defend their total while their other bowlers conceded much runs of around 14 per over.
After this win, CSK move to the top while DD remain at the last spot in the Points Table and it’s almost impossible for them to qualify for the playoffs in this season.
