Zpextre (pronounced Zip-X-Tree) is an artist from California making an impact with his music. As a part of the only Chinese family in a white suburban neighbourhood, Zpextre knew from an early age that he stood out. His uniqueness quickly became an asset, however, as he developed many close friends and a love for artistry. Growing up, music became an escape for him and his friends. Attending punk shows with his friends, Zpextre established an appreciation for music’s ability to instigate communication. Now, he is steadily building his repertoire of songs and using his psychedelic sounds to communicate important messages.
Zpextre’s music is hard to pin down. Described as Psychrock and Psychpostpunk by some, he focuses on creating songs that sound out of this world. The infectious and danceable rhythms also have the unmatched ability to draw in an avid crowd of listeners. In working with producers such as Kojak, Zpextre has been able to build his repertoire of songs and capture the attention of audiences from all around the world.
‘Save It For the Kids’ has quickly become one of Zpextre’s most popular songs. He describes it as a protest song that brings attention to the innocence of children and the impact that a certain presidential regime has had on their young lives. He aims to spread a message of creating a safer world for the kids. After the release of two more carefree songs ‘Laidback Air’ and ‘Hypnotized’, he felt that ‘Save It For the Kids’ was an important song to release and a message that many needed to hear.
With a unique blend of sounds and a passion for creating music that can be enjoyable yet impactful, Zpextre is just getting started. He continues to work with Kojak and believes that his relationship with him as a producer will allow him to craft many more unforgettable songs in the future.
