Saturday, August 2, Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theater opened its revival of Bonnie & Clyde The Musical. The spirited production drew audiences into the raw, reckless world of America’s most notorious criminal lovers with an unrelenting streak of darkness, heart, and passion.

Bay Street’s Artistic Director Scott Schwartz brings a stark, visceral sensibility to the Tony-nominated book by Ivan Menchell, with music by Frank Wildhorn and lyrics by Don Black. The music, inflected with blues, gospel, and rockabilly music, imbues this story of doomed love with full-throttle pathos.
Performances by the 10-member cast, including Amy Bodnar, Gisela Adisa, Nick Bailey, and Lyda Jade Harlan, straddle the line between tender and tough. Scenic design by Anna Louizos and choreography by Emily Maltby keep the show moving briskly throughout its two acts.
On hand to welcome the audience for opening night were members of the Bay Street Board of Trustees, including Co-chairs Lynn Mestel and Steve Todrys, as well as Trustees David Fink, John Frawley, Wendy Hashmall, Keith Green, Myra Hackel, Loretta Kaufman, Stewart F. Lane, Riki Kane Larimer, Leslie Mayer, Flora Schnall, Eric Segal, and Jennifer Bartley. Other guests included supermodel Christie Brinkley, fashion designer Donna Karan, Broadway director Walter Bobbie, playwright Ivan Menchell, Tony-winning producer Bonnie Comley, RKO Studios president and CEO Ted Hartley, and former Bay Street Board of Trustees members Patty Baker and Adrianne Cohen.

The Bonnie & Clyde The Musical production will run through August 24, marking the conclusion of Bay Street’s 2025 Mainstage Season, which also included Robert Schenkkan’s Bob & Jean A Love Story and the psychological thriller Deceived. Shows run Tuesday through Sunday at the theater’s Long Wharf location. Tickets are available online at baystreet.org or through the box office at 631-725-9500.
The Bonnie & Clyde production is sponsored by Build Labs, Corcoran, and Baron’s Cove. Bonnie & Clyde will be one of the summer’s can’t-miss events on the East End.
