Chennai Super Kings won yet another nail biting match in the last over as they defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore to make sure their vows continue in this year’s IPL. Mahendra Singh Dhoni once showed in this season that he still has a lot of cricket left in him as he scored brilliant 70 runs off just 34 deliveries to win the ‘Man of the Match’ award.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to field first on a slow sluggish wicket. They made two changes to their squad as they replaced Karn Sharma and Faf du Plessis with Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir. While RCB dropped Chris Woakes and Manan Vohra in order to play Colin de Grandhomme and Pawan Negi.

After Virat Kohli fall early for 18, de Kock and de Villiers played explosively for their innings of 53(37) and 68(30) respectively. After them, Mandeep Singh played a handy cameo of 32(17) before Washington Sundar (13 off 4) finished the innings at 205-8.

All CSK bowlers were on the expensive even after two maiden overs bowled in their innings. Thakur, Bravo and Tahir took two wickets each to help CSK restrict Bangalore for a reasonable score as they were looking to score an even bigger total.

CSK didn’t start well with the bat as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals in for form of Watson, Raina, Billings and Jadeja. But Rayudu (82) and Dhoni (70) never made the target look too big as they hit a boundary almost every over. With more than 100 runs needed in the last 7 overs, CSK chased down the target with two balls remaining.

Umesh Yadav (4-0-23-1) and Yuzvendra Chahal (4-0-26-2) were the only economical bowlers but apart from them, no other bowler was able to make any impact to help RCB look alive in the match.
