Arash Avin: I believe in the magic of music and know good music can change the world. The music I create and share is about so much more than just the music. My mission for music is to create, provide and expand positively life-changing experiences through music for all. In my pieces of music, I want to be inspired by something I can believe in, something that confers meaning in my life and my work. Fueled by my passion, I am committed to achieving excellence.
A mission defines why my song exists, what I hope to achieve, and how I want people to remember them. My art mission should also explain why I started to create and sing and what message I want my music listener to get from my artwork.
It is difficult to pinpoint what a piece of music is about and what impacts I expect the music to make in the world in just a few words. So whenever I decide to create a piece of music, I try to answer a couple of questions.
- What is my music?
- Who is my music for?
- What feelings or inspirations does my music invoke?
- What does my music contribute to my fans, to listeners, to my community, or the world?
There are so many thoughts, ideas, methods, gurus, and tactics to choose from in choosing and deciding the direction of my songwriting and singing. It is too easy to get lost on my way but answering those questions clearly and having a mission statement is helpful.
My mission statement for my songs keeps me from getting into a partnership or choosing opportunities that might not be the best option for me in the future. It always helps me to know myself and focus on who I am as an artist. It is important to focus on my purpose when creating. It helps me to get ideas on how to present myself. It empowers me to write and sing the songs that come from my heart which ultimately attracts the audience who need to hear my music the most. It is a part of building my music persona.
I read somewhere that Heart happy musicians have no trouble sharing their beliefs, sharing their art, using their art to establish their legacy in the world, and finding fulfillment from their art.
Having a mission statement is an opportunity for everyone to identify their uniqueness as a performer which is necessary for the music industry today. I hope all artists prepare their mission statements because I believe it will lead us to real-world developments. It is also designed to inspire the artists to help them decide which opportunities are in line with their goals so they can say yes to those.
