Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former India cricket team captain received the country’s third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan, from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on April 2, Monday. Dhoni became the second Indian cricketer after Kapil Dev to have received this honour. He received the award in his Lieutenant Colonel uniform and walked like an army personnel when his name was called upon. The 37-year-old player was conferred the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on November 1, after India’s famous 2011 ICC World Cup triumph.

Dhoni posted a few images of the event and of moments spent with his wife and daughter. He thanked the armed forces for their exemplary services to the country captioned the pictures, “An honour to get the Padma Bhushan and receiving it in Uniform increases the excitement ten folds. Thanks to all the Men and Women in Uniform and their families for the Sacrifices they make so that all of us could enjoy our Constitutional Rights. Jai Hind.” His post garnered more than 12,34,000 likes and 22,800 comments. Bollywood stars, singers and sportspersons congratulated him for his huge achievement. With Padma Bhushan, Dhoni added another feather in his cap and the nation is proud of him.
