The Central Park Conservancy Gala lit up November 20 with a dazzling celebration that perfectly matched the season’s lingering warmth and autumnal beauty. Guests enjoyed an unseasonably mild evening as they walked through Central Park’s golden-hued landscape to reach the gala’s tented venue at Rumsey Playfield near 72nd Street.

Betsy Smith, president and CEO of the Conservancy, welcomed attendees alongside co-chairs Evelyn and David McCabe, Melanie and Matthew McLennan, Gillian and Sylvester Miniter, and Mo Sakurai and Harry Taylor. This year’s theme, Fortune’s Fête, brought a cosmic flair to the evening. Celestial decor, astrology-inspired touches, and interactive activities captivated the crowd. Highlights included the dark violet color scheme, whimsical crystal ball desserts—revealing chocolate cake within—and palm readers whose lines of eager guests extended throughout the night.

Underwritten by Harry Winston, Inc., the gala raised more than $1.2 million to support the Conservancy’s ongoing efforts to maintain Central Park as a sanctuary for all. Reflecting on the evening, Smith shared, “This event is a celebration of the love and care that Central Park inspires in everyone who visits. It’s a testament to the park’s importance to our city.”
