In the first match of the super Sunday, Rajasthan Royals defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 19 runs in a high scoring game. Sanju Samson won the ‘Man of the Match’ award for his mind-blowing inning of 92 runs off just 45 balls.

The match started after the home side RCB won the toss and asked Rajasthan to put a total on the board. They once again opened with Ajinkya Rahane and D’Arcy Short and the former looked in great touch before he got out for 36(20) in the last over of the powerplay. Short also fall in the next over cheaply for just 11(17).

Two new batsmen were in the crease for RR, Samson and Stokes. After a good, RR couldn’t capitalize and were 76-2 at the end of 10 overs. Samson was well supported by Stokes (27), Butler (23) and Tripathi (14) from the other end, while Samson (92) went after all the bowlers to finish the RR’s total at 217/4. Apart from Chahal (4-0-22-0) and Sundar (4-0-30-0), rest all other bowlers conceded more than 10 runs per over.

Starting for RCB, Brendon McCullum got out in the first over for 4 runs. After his departure, de Kock and Kohli looked good before the former got out for 26(19). RCB still looked in the picture before Kohli (57) and de Villiers (20) got out in quick succession. Though Mandeep Singh (47 of 25) and Washington Sundar (35 off 19) played handy knocks but the target always looked too big to chase and they fall 19 runs short to it.

For Rajasthan, local boy Shreyas Gopal was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 4-0-22-2 which included the main wickets of Kohli and de Villiers which turned the match in their favor.
