Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated the Delhi Daredevils by 6 wickets to move up to the fifth place in Points Table while Delhi remain at the last position. AB de Villiers won the ‘Man of the Match’ for his blissful knock of 90 runs off just 39 deliveries.
After winning the toss, RCB elected to bowl first. Both teams made just one change each as RCB played Manan Vohra instead of Sarfaraz Khan while for DD, Harshal Patel made his debut in place of Mohammed Shami.
Delhi’s both openers started poorly as they got out after playing knocks of 5(16) for Roy and 3(10) for Gambhir. Young Shreyas Iyer (52) and Rishabh Pant (85) helped DD to post the innings total of 174-5 where they got support from no other batsman. Yuzvendra Chahal (3-0-22-2) was the pick of the bowlers who was well supported by Sundar and Yadav to restrict Delhi.
De Kock and Manan Vohra opened the batting for RCB and didn’t also started well as RCB was reduced to 29/2 inside 5 overs. After they got out, Kohli and de Villiers held the innings strong. Kohli later got out for 30(26) but Delhi bowlers found no way to get the wicket of AB de Villiers as he went on to score 90(39). Cameos from Anderson (15) and Mandeep (17*) helped RCB chase the target at 18th over.
Only Glenn Maxwell bowled his two overs for 1/13 with a reasonable economy of 6.5 and rest all other bowlers were smashed by AB de Villiers all around the park. This has emerged major concerns for DD in terms of both, their batting and bowling as they are placed last with just a solitary win in five matches.
