Kings XI Punjab will host the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 48th match of IPL 2018 at the Holkar Stadium, Indore. This will be a virtual knockout for RCB and if KXIP losses today, then their remaining games will become knockout for them.
Punjab have a tournament so far which can be easily divided into parts which is done by a one week break which was given to them. Before the break, they played 7 matches and won five out them, while after that they lost three out of four games. Suddenly, both their batting as well as bowling have started to look weak.
They look too much over dependent on their openers, KL Rahul and Chris Gayle where the former is having a magnificent tournament but the latter has blown hot and cold. But their problem starts after them as no other player is contributing much runs with the bat. In bowling, Tye and Rahman have done really well; Ashwin has performed in some matches and rest all other bowlers including Sran, Axar Patel, Mohit Sharma have failed to impress.
RCB, on the other hand, are now playing all their matches as they still have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Although they will be high on confidence after the way they defeated the Delhi Daredevils in last match where both Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers batted brilliantly.
This will be last game for Punjab at this venue in this season, so, they will try to finish on a high note. But their worries have increased as Mujeeb ur Rahman might not not be available for this game which might make way in for David Miller in the middle order to strengthen their batting. While RCB will look to continue with their winning combination from the last match.
After some low scoring games, this ground has again rose up to its name as usually much runs are scored here. In the last match, 459 runs were scored collectively by the two teams which is the second highest in the history of IPL. With some of the best power hitters in both the teams, something just like the previous game is expected to be repeated.
