Chennai Super Kings will host the Rajasthan Royals in the seventeenth match of IPL 2018 at the MCA Stadium, Pune. Both teams will face each other for the first time in this season after coming back from the bank over the last two years.
It would be difficult for Chennai to made changes to their team as they picked their squad according to ‘actual’ home ground, Chepauk. For this, they had picked a lot of spin bowling options and if there would be not much turn in the pitch, quite a few changes are required in their playing XI.
The performance of MS Dhoni in the last game was a huge positive for Chennai as the lion didn’t only answer his critics that he still has much cricket left in him but also showed that he can be as explosive as you want him to be.
While the performance of overseas players so far has been a major concerning issue for Rajasthan. All four players- Stokes, Short, Butler and Laughlin have not done well or lived up to their names before the start of the season. Their team mainly revolves around young Sanju Samson and skipper Ajinkya Rahane. That’s why their season so far is of mixed performances.
RR may replace Laughlin with Jofra Archer and D’Arcy Short with Heinrich Klaasen as they will be keenly looking to check their bench strength in place of the non-performers. This will lead to Rahul Tripathi open the batting with Rahane. CSK may either play Mark Wood or David Willey in place of Imran Tahir and Karn Sharma for Deepak Chahar.
A warm day is expected at Pune but the conditions are likely to get a bit cooler in the evening which will be a huge relief for both the teams.
