Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Rajasthan Royals but 25 runs to move an inch closer to the finals. Now they will be up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Qualifier 2 at the same ground on May 25. Andre Russell won the ‘Man of the Match’ for his all round performance.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to field first. Both teams, as expected, played with an unchanged playing XI. The two teams were coming to this after winning their previous games so they they took the right decision in the penultimate stage.

KKR didn’t start well with the bat as they lost three wickets inside the powerplay. Soon, Chris Lynn also got out after playing a slow knock of 18 runs from 22 deliveries. Dinesh Karthik played yet another brilliant of 52 runs along with Shubman Gill (28). Andre Russell finished the innings for KKR with his knock of 49*(25) as Kolkata posted 169 on the board.

Krishnappa Gowtham yet again bowled brilliantly with his spell of 3-0-15-2. Ish Sodhi also bowled an economical spell of 4-0-15-0. Though, Archer and Laughlin were on the quite expensive side but they took two wickets each.

Rajasthan began their batting well with both Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi got starts. Though Tripathi got out for 20 but then Samson came out to the crease and he along with Rahane indulged in a good partnership for the second wicket. They lost their 2nd wicket for 109 and they were looking set to win the match.

Though Rahane (46) and Samson (50) kept RR on the brink of winning the match but KKR’s spinners got them back in the game as both Piyush Chawla (4-0-24-2) and Kuldeep Yadav (4-0-18-1) bowling brilliantly in the middle overs. When Rajasthan were looking assured of a victory, KKR backed themselves and got back to the match from nowhere.
