The third and fourth placed teams at the Points Table, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals respectively will face each other in the Eliminator at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The losing team of this match will get knocked out while the winners will play against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Qualifier 2.
KKR will definitely have the home advantage but it will doubled as they are up against RR. This is because last time Rajasthan last time defeated Kolkata way back in 2008 and a decade has passed since then. After that they have lost five out five matches against KKR that they played at this venue.
Spinners of both the teams have played a major role and will continue to do that today as well. Though Shreyas Gopal, Krishnappa Gowtham and Ish Sodhi for RR have not laid that much impact as KKR’s Sunil Narine, Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav have made on this tournament.
Rajasthan will definitely miss the services of Jos Butler and Ben Stokes as they left the tournament midway to play for their national team. But they surprised everyone in the last match as they won it against RCB, that too comprehensively to qualify for the playoffs. But it will difficult for them to do it every time.
It will cloudy weather conditions and a lot of chances of rainfall are forecasted. Everyone will be hoping a full game but if the match does not get completed, then KKR will qualify for the Qualifier 2 as they are placed higher than RR in the Points Table.
