Mumbai Indians once again faced a a narrow defeat in IPL 2018 and this time it came came against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The hosts were just able to cross the finishing line by a wicket to spare on last ball of the match.

The match after Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and just like the trend in this year’s IPL, they chose to bowl first. Both teams were missing out their main players in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar (SRH) and Hardik Pandya (MI) which were replaced by Sandeep Sharma and Pradeep Sangwan respectively.

Rohit Sharma and Evin Lewis opened the batting and the skipper was back to the pavilion inside two overs. Though Lewis started strong with 29 runs off 17 balls but he soon perished after Ishan Kishan (9) followed by Krunal Pandya (15). Innings of 28 runs each from Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard helped MI to post a respectable total of 147-8 on board.

For SRH, Rashid Khan Khan once again proved himself. He got the bowling figures of 4-0-13-1 which was supported well by all other four bowlers who got at least one wicket.

Saha and Dhawan began the chase for Hyderabad and they cruised to 56 runs off just six overs. Soon young spinner Mayank Markande once again showed his magic who just ripped apart the SRH batting with his bowling figures of 4-0-23-4. He was well supported by Mustafizur Rahman (4-0-24-3).

Wickets kept on falling on end while Deepak Hooda held the other one. A situation came when they were 137/9 with still 11 runs to win but the Haryana batsman kept his nerve. With last one run needed off the last ball, tall Billy Stanlake just swung his bat hard to provide SRH their second win of this year.

Rashid Khan was adjudged as the ‘Man of the Match’ for his splendid bowling. This win also put Sunrisers Hyderabad on the top of the Points Table with 4 points.
