After a nail-biting start to the IPL 2018, Kings XI Punjab won the second match by defeating Delhi Daredevils. The match witnessed some great batting from KL Rahul who was adjudged as the ‘Man of the Match’.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bowl first and as expected Gautam Gambhir and Colin Munro came out to open the batting. On the other hand, the bowling command was held by the Punjab skipper Ravi Ashwin.

The match didn’t start well for DD as they lost Colin Munro inside the power play. Though Gambhir kept scoring at one end on the other end they kept on losing wickets. Quick small knocks from Pant (28) and Morris (27) and a captain’s inning of 55 from Gautam Gambhir helped Delhi to finish at 166/7.

Ashwin and young Mujeeb Ur Rahman were among the pick of the bowlers after they recorded the figures of 4-0-23-1 and 4-0-28-2 respectively. While their expected star bowler Andrew Tye failed to perform after he conceded 38 runs in his 4 overs without taking any wicket.

Punjab began their batting with KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal and they started exceptionally well with Rahul scoring a quick fire 50 off just 14 deliveries (joint third highest in T20 history) and they lost their first wicket in form of Agarwal for 58 runs in 4th over.

After Agarwal, KXIP soon lost Rahul and Yuvraj in quick succession. Then Karun Nair took the responsibility to hold the innings and scored a calm 50 off just 33 deliveries. And Miller (24) and Stoinis (22) took the team across the finishing line and KXIP won the match by 6 wickets with seven balls to spare.
