Sunrisers Hyderabad continue their habit as they once again defended a total in this year’s IPL. SRH Skipper played a blissful knock 63 runs off just 43 balls to help his team win the match by 11 runs.
Hyderabad won the toss and keeping their strength in mind, they opted to bat first. They made just an obvious change as they replaced Mohammed Nabi by Alex Hales while Rajasthan made two changes as young Mahipal Lomror came in for Shreyas Gopal while Heinrich Klaasen got replaced by Ish Sodhi.
After Dhawan got out cheaply for 6, a magnificent magnificent partnership built-in between Alex Hales(45) and Kane Williamson(63). But after they got, no one in the middle order scored big runs to help SRH to post a massive total even after the stage was set for them.
Jofra Archer once again proved his worth as he recorded the bowling figures of 4-0-26-3. He got magnificent support from young Krishnappa Gowtham (4-0-18-2) to restrict SRH for a reasonable score of 151/7 at the end of their 20 overs.
Rajasthan too lost an early wicket in the form of Rahul Tripathi (4). After that, Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson held the innings well against the power bowling line up of Sunrisers Hyderabad. After Samson got out in the 10th over for 40 runs, just like Hyderabad no one came in to support Ajinkya Rahane.
The required run rate kept on increasing in the middle overs as the wickets kept on falling. Though Rahane batted till the end of the innings but could not help his team to chase the target as he kept on losing wickets at the other end.
All SRH bowlers bowled well with young Indians, Sandeep Sharma (4-0-15-1) and Siddarth Kaul (4-0-23-2) were the major performers. After this match, Kaul also went past all to get placed at the top position for the race of Purple Cap. Sunrisers Hyderabad also move to the top of the Points Table after this win.
