Chennai Super Kings will host the Kings XI Punjab in the final match of IPL 2018 before the knockout stage. It’s a must win game for Punjab if they want to qualify for the playoffs while CSK will play this game just to improve their NRR to ensure a finish in the top 2 at the Points Table.

The way Punjab began their season, it was likely that they will surely qualify for the playoffs as they had won five out of their first six games. But after that they have managed to win just a single match. Not only that, their run rate is also the worst among all teams.

So, they don’t only have to win the match but also miraculously. Firstly, they have to wish for a loss for Mumbai Indians who will be up against Delhi then they will have to themselves beat CSK by a massive margin to that they can go past the RR’s run rate.

Punjab’s reason for their such condition is their over dependency on two players, KL Rahul in batting and Andrew Tye in bowling. They too hold the Orange Cap and the Purple Cap respectively which also they might lose if they fail to qualify for the playoffs.

Though, CSK lost their last match but they will look to bounce back and vanish the chance of Punjab for qualifying. They would want to enter the knockout stage on the bank of a victory and not two consecutive losses.
