Founded in California, Orange County, Tom Helmy’s firm ConsultTogether has enjoyed a rapid rise in digital marketing success. Indeed, Tom and his team have just started successful digital marketing projects and have earned a reputation for their expertise and their transparency when dealing with a client’s issues. These days, social media seems to be the new battleground for digital marketing supremacy, having superseded more traditional channels in recent years.

In order to properly break down these ideas, Tom was able to answer a few of our questions.

Hi Tom, what is your story that inspired founding ConsultTogether?

Long story short, I had a relationship that ended badly, and it really hurt my sense of self-worth. I wanted to pursue a new direction in my life that would demonstrate both to my ex (and to myself) that I’m not worthless. For me, ConsultTogether was a way for me to show that I didn’t need to value my self-worth based on romantic success, but instead, base my success on myself, my team, and of course our clients!

What is your style of digital marketing with your clients?

For us, our two focus points are personalization and social media. We work across many social media platforms, like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, blending our projects with our SEO acumen and understanding of the digital marketing landscape.

Tailoring our offerings is crucial to our success, as it allows us to create the perfect campaign to meet the client’s unique needs. No matter what they need, whether it be a mix of SEO, web design, and social media – we can help!

How do you incorporate Instagram into your social media campaigns?

Instagram is one of the most highly used social media tools on the planet, and as a result, it is very important that businesses look at ways of implementing Instagram into their marketing mix. Like traditional SEO practices, Instagram should be used as a way of developing original, engaging content, which your followers will enjoy. This content should be directly related to your core services and be communicated in a distinct manner that ultimately appeals to your customer base. Instagram photos should also be polished and professional looking, since grainy, blurred photos don’t get the same traction.

However, it’s also important that you understand how Instagram differs from other forms of marketing, and this is something we use to guide our campaigns. Indeed, Instagram has its own terminology, almost like a different language. Filters, hashtags, Instagram handle, IG, stories etc. These are all words that probably won’t make sense to someone who isn’t familiar with the app. We ensure that Instagram is effectively incorporated into all social media campaigns (where relevant), while appreciating some of the different implementation techniques it requires.

What are some of the challenges of using Instagram for marketing purposes?

As outlined in the previous question, there are some challenges associated with using Instagram for marketing needs. Firstly, Instagram does have its own unique terminology, which can be difficult to adjust to and incorporate successfully into posts. However, getting in touch with someone from our team will ensure that your Instagram posts are written in accordance with the proper lingo and jargon.

Instagram is also a marketing medium that won’t work for every business. Studies show that older Internet users are less active on social media platforms, especially Instagram. Put simply, Instagram is a young person’s domain. So, if you’re retailing services or products specific to older consumers, Instagram might not necessarily be the place to go. Twitter and Facebook, on the other hand, might be more your style.

Why should a business choose ConsultTogether?

In my opinion, there are two core qualities our business adheres to that distinguishes us from other businesses. These two traits are openness and transparency, both of which are very important in this industry for many reasons. Firstly, honesty allows us to separate ourselves from the low-quality providers, many of whom only want a quick buck from you. In fact, many of our clients tell us that working with us was refreshing after the dishonesty they suffered with less reliable digital marketers. It’s common to be burnt or poorly treated by marketing consultants, so reliability and honesty are naturally very important.
