Anne Smith, the founder of the Iron Sharpens Iron Council on Facebook has encountered threat and hardship throughout the past 7 years of her life, when her whole world was turned upside down when her daughter was wrongfully convicted. She faced financial hardship when predatory attorneys looking to make easy money scammed her of $40,000, pretending to help her in her cause. She has looked to build up her legal knowledge as a result, in order to help her daughter.
During this process, the Iron Sharpens Iron Council gained a significant following on Facebook, boasting thousands of members who are all committed to the same cause of determination and empowerment. They work together to ‘sharpen each other’s iron’, by connecting and talking to one another about similar interests and objectives. The solidarity of the Council is astounding, with thousands of members standing together using legal advocacy to fight against the injustices of the US legal system. Anne Smith has built this platform as a way to help others, while also looking to further her primary cause of clearing her daughter’s name. She is currently accepting donations via her Instagram from others who believe in her cause and want to fund “CLEAR HER NAME”, a planned book and docuseries outlining her struggle and the wrongful conviction of her daughter.
All of these hardships and burdens have made Anne Smith a stronger woman, while helping others to become stronger simultaneously. Seeing that she can do this herself, others have become inspired by her determination and stride and thus her community stands together in solidarity against the overwhelming injustices of the US legal system and the world in general.
