Delhi Daredevils defeated the Rajasthan Royals by 4 runs (DLS Method) to register their their third win of the tournament. Rishabh Pant won the ‘Man of the Match’ for his blissful knock of 69 runs off just 29 balls.

The started about one and a half hours late due to rain and was cut short to 18 overs per side. Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first. They made two changes as D’Arcy Short and Shreyas Gopal came back in place of Ish Sodhi and Mahipal Lomror. While DD made only one change as they played Shahbaz Nadeem instead of Rahul Tewatia.

DD didn’t start well as they lost Munro for a duck in the very first over. But after him, the three Indians who have been doing consistently well for DD, Shaw (47), Iyer (50) and Pant (69) played amazingly in this game as well. Vijay Shankar played a small cameo of 17(6) to help DD post 196-6 on the board at the end of 17.1 overs before rain started.

DD didn’t bat again and RR was a target of 151 runs in 12 overs. Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers for RR as he took three wickets in his four overs while Archer, Kulkarni and Gopal took a wicket each.

Chasing a tricky target, RR opened their bowling with Jos Butler and D’Arcy Short. The way Butler was batting for Rajasthan, it seemed that RR will chase the target easily. D’Arcy Short was struggling at that but once Butler got out for 67, Short took the charge. He hit three consecutive sixes off Maxwell and the match almost turned into RR’s favor.

Delhi kept on taking wickets in the middle overs to keep the required run rate high. Even after Gowtham’s knock of 18*(6), Trent Boult showed his experience and bowled a magnificent last over to help DD finish at the winning end. With this win, Delhi jumped two places as they move to the sixth place in the Points Table while RR slipped to seventh spot.
