Mumbai Indians lost another match in the last over and this time it came against Rajasthan Royals as the Royals beat them by 3 wickets. Jofra Archer won the ‘Man of the Match’ for his bowling figure of 4-0-22-3.
After winning the toss, Mumbai Indians opted to bat first without making any changes in their playing XI but RR replaced their two players from the last match as Jofra Archer came in for Ben Laughlin and Dhawal Kulkarni for Stuart Binny.
Kulkarni started the proceedings for Rajasthan very well as he dismissed Lewis for duck. But after him, Suryakumar Yadav(72) and Ishan Kishan (58) played magnificently and put their team in a position of scoring a huge total. But after them, no one took the responsibility to finish the game as Jofra Archer who was making his debut in IPL dismissed their middle order batsmen very cheaply and restricted MI to 167/7 after their 20 overs.
Rajasthan didn’t start well with the bowl as both their openers got out inside the power play but after them Stokes (40) and Samson (52) didn’t allow Mumbai to get in the game but after Samson got out, Klaasen, Butler and Archer got out in quick succession as match once against shifted towards MI. But after that, Krishnappa Gowtham played one of the best inning of his career as scored 33 runs off just 11 balls.
Mumbai started well in both innings but lost the momentum in the end. For instance, Bumrah began well as he conceded just 10 runs in the 3 overs that he bowled where he also took 2 wickets but conceded 18 runs in the 19 over which left only 10 runs in the last over for Hardik Pandya to defend. But as Gowtham was batting, he scored those runs in just 4 balls to win the match for his team.
